Welcome to Ambonnay Cellar

Ambonnay Cellar was created because we wanted to continue the mission of Ambonnay Champagne Bar - helping more people drink more champagne, more often. Since Ambonnay Champagne Bar opened in 2011, we’ve had thousands of guests from all over the world visit and love what we do, but gripe that they can’t find all these cool champagnes in their own cities. To help all fizz fans , we created Ambonnay Cellar.

At Ambonnay Cellar, you’ll find an oasis where champagne lovers can peruse and purchase from a huge selection of champagnes from small and large producers. We’ll have plenty of information about the producers, terroirs, and useful tidbits about Champagne, so check back often as we’ll regularly update the site and the wines available. If there’s a champagne you’re looking for but don’t see, please drop us a line. We always have fun stuff kicking around the cellar that hasn’t made it on to the website yet.

David Speer

David’s path to champagne has been a long and winding road that began at his family’s kitchen table learning about wines from a young age.  After the table, he traveled the world eating, drinking, realizing that his previous ambitions were boring. He changed directions and ultimately opened businesses that specialize in the enjoyment of life.

The whole story is best heard in person, so come visit him at Ambonnay Champagne Bar.  In the meantime, you should also know that David enjoys riding polar bears, treasure hunting, long walks on the beach, and he makes sure to drink champagne at least once a day.  David is an avid fan of science fiction and, it is quite possible that he may have embellished his bio a bit.

When David is not gallivanting on his polar bear, he spends a lot of time thinking about, talking about, selling, and enjoying Champagne at Ambonnay Champagne Bar. He’s been a certified sommelier since 2004, and in 2013 Food and Wine Magazine chose David as one of ten Sommeliers of the Year. David and his businesses have been featured in USA Today, Food and Wine, Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Sunset Magazine, Yahoo Food, Imbibe Magazine, Portland Monthly, The Oregonian, and Eater.com national.
